Proenza Schouler began simply as a senior project at Parsons School of Design. It was there that Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez first met while studying fashion design. In his junior year, McCollough took an internship with Marc Jacobs. Around the same time, Hernandez snuck a note to Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour while on the same Miami-New York flight. In 2006 The Council of Fashion Designers of America nominated Proenza Schouler for the Womenswear Designer of the Year award.
